I have been asked to put the training syllabus for Bat Workers online.
This is the training which is required to be undertaken to gain the Roost visitor license and is an appendix from the Bat Workers Manual. Print out a copy and tick off items as they are covered.

Bat Rabies Vaccination

Some people have told me that their GP's are trying to charge them for vaccines. These are free if you are bat workers. If anyone is being asked to pay anything other than the prescription charge by their GP's, let me know the GP details and I will contact them to point them in the correct direction.

Hunger makes bats 'act strangely'

Bats found lying on the ground and being mobbed by birds flying in daylight could be linked to extreme hunger, an expert has said.

Anne Youngman, the Bat Conservation Trust's Scottish officer, said the handful of incidents may be related to last year's poor summer and autumn.

She said it was too early to tell if the problem was more widespread.

There is a link to this in the Bat links section, but if you want to access a copy where I have joined all the chapters into just one document, please follow this link.While it is good to be able to access this online, I would suggest that it is worth while buying the hard copy, it is rich source of information. Would you like to know more about bats?

You do not need to be an expert to enjoy bats or to help conserve them. You can do as much or as little as you like. Whether you want to train to get a license, or just learn a little more about these fascinating creatures.

HOW CAN YOU HELP?

Join the Angus Bat Group. We are taking practical action to prevent further population declines, but we need your help. Joining us is the most direct way to help bats. Use the membership form link below to become a member.

Let us know if you have seen bats in your house, garden, local buildings, church or park.

Password protection of forum

Due to the increasing levels of spam registration attempts — up to 35 a day — it has become necessary to add password protection to the forum. Most of the spam was from Russian and Chinese ISP's.

The current registration procedures are sufficient to stop people posting unless their registration is approved by me, however, I had to log on and delete the spam user every time one attempted to register, and if I left it for a few days, I could have up to 100 to delete.

Password protecting the site means that casual viewers will not be able to access the forum unless they e mail me at WEBMASTER and are given the user name and password. I do not wish to restrict people without due cause, and if you are not a member of Angus Bat Group, but wish access to forum, please do contact me.

I have sent a mail to all current legitimate registered users with the access password. However, if you did not put an e mail address in you profile when you registered on the forum, send me a mail with an e mail address i can contact you on, and I will send necessary information.
